European Superkart Championship Continues To Grow

press release

Revived in 2002 by the CIK, the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship is enjoying unfailing success as years go by.

Since 2002, the maximum number of entries is regularly reached (60 participants per event) and the championship is held on some of the most prestigious European automobile circuits.

Over the last six years, many new types of engines have also appeared whereas, throughout the history of international Superkart (which was then known as Formula E) in the 1980’s and 90s, all the vehicles were powered by only one make of engine.

In 2008, the CIK-FIA should approve two additional new engines, thus bringing the number of different makes of 250cc Superkart engines to 8.

The programme of the 2008 European tour will again appeal to all Superkart fans. The opening event of the 2008 CIK-FIA European Championship is scheduled for 4-6 April in France, at Nogaro, on the very nice Paul Armagnac circuit which recently underwent a full face-lift.

The second round will take place on the Eurospeedway, at Lausitz, in Germany, where the Superkarts will have the chance to produce themselves on 16-18 May within the framework of the prestigious and very popular DTM (70,000 spectators in 2007 !).

Finally, on 1-3 August, the temple of motorcycles constituted by the circuit of Assen, in the Netherlands, will organise its now traditional "Rizla Racing Days", gathering tens of thousands of spectators for a varied programme comprising motorcycle, car and Superkart races!
