Wollongong City Raceway Jets Rocket to 1000-Lapper Victory

1000 laps of Endurance Kart racing is never an easy task to complete, and it was the Wollongong City Raceway Jets Racing team who managed to get to the finish line on top and win the opening round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Endurance Kart championship that was held last Saturday at the Wollongong City Raceway.

Although it was the 3D East Coast Racing # 1 team that qualified on pole position, it was the Wollongong City Raceway Jets that were the first to complete the 1000 laps around the 670 metre track.

Behind the high flying Wollongong City Raceway Jets with a 12 second gap over second place finisher 3D East Coast Racing # 1, followed by KBC Racing team were five laps behind the leaders. Finishing just off the podium in fourth position with a completion of 994 laps was the KAOS Racing team and after starting in position two, Kart Blanche ended in fifth place after managing to complete 992 laps.

The first B Grade team to finish the 1000 lap event was the Shire Racing team who finished sixth outright, and the 3D East Coast Racing # 2 finished seventh after starting in position sixth on the grid. Two Dogs Team Racing finished ninth outright and were also the third B Grade team to reach the finish line.

Colmac Excavations Racing finished eighth outright and their race meeting was highlighted after they recorded the fastest lap of the event, which was a total time of 30.304 seconds.

The KAOS Racing were awarded the best presented Go Kart of the event.

A total of 18 teams started the event with 17 finishing the gruelling 1000 lap journey.

The second round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Endurance Kart Championship will be held on the weekend of March 1 and 2 at the Fairburn Park Kart Track, near Canberra in the ACT.
