Carlos Sainz Jnr For Schumacher Kart Team

Carlos Sainz Jnr, the son of rally legend Carlos Sainz, is the first driver to sign for Michael Schumacher's KSM Motorsport karting team. Sainz will campaign a Tony Kart in KF3.

The team, a collaboration between Schumacher and two of his friends, Peter Kaiser and Thomas Muchow, was announced last year but was only officially launched a few days ago. "I still drive karts with a passion, I grew up with them. I owe everything to karting and I never gave it up" Schumacher is quoted as saying in Gazzetta dello Sport. "In all these years I have never lost my love for karting."

Schumi's first race as team boss is the Winter Cup in Kerpen on February 17. The team will concentrate on German and European Championships in 2008 before possible expansion in 2009.
