Girl Power Dominates Super Sprint 4s Series Opener

press release

A 1–2 finish in the junior class from Jessica Hodgkin and Kayla Tenneson highlighted the opening round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Super Sprint’s Series on Saturday (February 9) at the Indy 800 Kart Track near Windsor, Hawkesbury Shire, NSW.

After Kyle Patterson had dominated in the Junior class up until the final, after he had earlier blitzed the field in qualifying and then went on to take out all three heat races and then the pre final, the best he could manage in the final was a third place finish on the podium.

Both Hodgkin and Tenneson came good in the final for the junior class and claimed a 1-2 finish after the pair had paced the field for the entire distance. In fact, it was Tenneson that led the majority of the final before a late pass by Hodgkin gave her the lead and eventually the win.

In the Senior Light class it was defending Super Sprint 4’s Champion Mitchell Hewitt that continued where he left off last year with strong form throughout the meeting. However, he was upstaged by arch rival Brendan Long, who won both the pre final and final, and it was Hewitt that finished in second place on both occasions.

Other class wins were claimed by Nathan Coulham (Senior Sportsman) and Rick Ward (Senior Heavy).

The second round of the ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Series is to be held in Canberra (ACT) on Saturday, March 1.
