Harrison's Qld & Vic Title Double - Looking For Aus#1

press release

In what is his first full season of Speedway Karting, Anthony Harrison has managed to come away with victory in both the Queensland and Victorian State Titles recently, and he is now even hungrier for more success.

There is no question about it, Harrison - who competes in the Junior 100J class - has had an awesome season, and he is now focused on carrying on that successful form into next month’s Australian Title that is to be held at Olympic Park in Mildura, Victoria.

“I’m not going to get too far ahead of myself, but my State Title double wins have certainly injected plenty of confidence into me for the upcoming Australian Title,” said the 15-year-old Queenslander. “The aim that I have set myself for the Australian Title is to be a podium contender, and if everything goes to plan then we should be right up there with a shot.”

Current form indicates that Harrison will be an Australian Title contender, when you consider his dominant performance during his victory in the Queensland State Title at Gatton Speedway where he won all four of his heat races and the final by a comfortable margin. During the Victorian State Title at Broadford Speedway the going was a little tougher for him. After consistent results throughout his four heat races, Harrison was the second highest point scorer heading into the final and he actually crossed the finish line in second place only for the win to be later handed to him after the original winner was disqualified for an engine technicality breach.

“My victory in the Queensland State Title came without any dramas whatsoever as I had a dream run throughout the meeting, but my Victorian State Title win certainly wasn’t how I planned it to unfold,” expressed the third generation Speedway racer.

“I want to win races on my own merits, and it was unfortunate as the winner clearly deserved it [the win], and I was only good enough for second, although I kept him honest all the way to the finish.”

The Australian Speedway Kart Title is to be held on the weekend of March 28 – 30 and Harrison is without a doubt one of the favourites in the Junior 100J class.

Harrison is proudly supported in 2008 by TND Transport, BP – Wacol, PM Lubricants and DKS Race Engines, while special thanks must go to his parents, Tony and Dianne, and John Aurisch.
