Central Coast Speedway - Round 2

press release

Hosted by Central Coast Speedway Kart Club on Sun 9 March 2008, Gosford Kart Speedway, Gosford Showground.

With beautiful weather on our side, our second meeting of the year produced a fantastic days racing! Quite a few new drivers were on hand eager to go racing, and with a full field of Clubman Lights entered, we were in for an action packed day.

In the Midget class, Kyle Angel, was the star performer with 2 wins, with Luke Sayre and Levi Moir tied for points behind him. Bad luck to John Gillespie who was way out in front, and looking for his first feature race win, only to have his motor expire with several laps to go.

The Rookies ended up with Reagan Angel claiming 3 heat wins and the days honours. However, well done to Nikki Briton for taking out the feature race and 2nd place !

In the Juniors, Bradley Giffen was triumphant with 2 race wins, but was being chased by the girls in the class, Jessica Cassidy and Ashleigh Briton. Congratulations also to Cassie Ralph for taking out the feature race.

With a fully subscribed field of Clubman Lights (16 karts), we had some father and son/daughter combinations running, with bets running on who would be victorious. Unfortunately, the fathers lost ! Probably due to the extra weight ! Nathan Bailey ended up winning the day with 2 heat wins, followed closely by Justin Cox and Natalie Genner. Natalie also bagged a heat win, along with David Boyd. Congratulations also to Greg Martin, stepping up to the class for his first meeting and coming a very respectable 6th place.

In Clubman Heavies, Matthew Bond was victorious, followed closely by Wayne Baines and Les Green. With several first lap restarts in the Feature race, it was any ones guess who would be on the podium at the end of the day.

The Clubman Over 40 class numbers were down due to drivers performing official duties, but the racing was still red-hot with consistency proving the winner on the day. Congratulations to Matthew Bond for almost having a clean sweep, but also to Mick Martin who is becoming a podium regular !

In the KT modified class we had 3 new drivers, one of which Nathan Dicker, took home the winners trophy. Only a few points behind, was one of our regulars, Stuart Bond, with Luke Storey on P plates winning one race, and taking out third !
