Morcom Set For F/Ford Debut

press release

After recently taking out his maiden National Go Karting Title, teenager Nathan Morcom will make his Formula Ford debut in the NSW State Championship with the Anglo Australian Motorsport team.

Morcom has just turned 16 and is very excited about contesting the entire six rounds of the NSW State Championship with the Anglo Australian Motorsport team who have helped launch the Motorsport careers of the likes of Michael Patrizi, Brad Lowe, and also current Fujitsu V8 Supercar drivers David Sieders and Joel Spychala.

Heading into the opening round of the NSW State Championship this weekend (April 12 – 13) at Wakefield Park Raceway (Goulburn, NSW), Morcom is certainly looking forward to making his Formula Ford debut on a circuit where he has done all of his with the Anglo Australian Motorsport team. “It’s very good for the confidence levels when I can make my debut in Formula Ford at the circuit where I have a bit of experience, but there is going to be a big difference between testing and the actual racing itself,” said Morcom.

“I have received a lot of assistance from the Anglo Australian Motorsport, as they are a very professional team and their results speak for themselves, so to have their support heading into my first year of Formula Ford is wonderful.” In terms of results Morcom hasn’t set any lofty goals driving the # 71 brand-new Anglo Australian Motorsport Spirit WL08.“The main goal for this year is to simply learn, and I know there is no pressure to do anything more,” commented Morcom.

“If I’m consistently learning, then there is no doubt that my speed will improve, and I can further up the field as the year progresses, but at this stage it’s all about crawling before I walk.”

In 2008 Morcom is supported by Rondo Building Supplies, Plastamasta Smithfield – Campbelltown and Canberra, and NSW Stretch Ceilings.
