Mt Gambier Enduro Festival Just 2 Weeks Away

press release

Places are filling fast for the Mount Gambier Enduro festival as the TAG 125 drivers line up with the Midget/Rookie for their shot for a few more laps than normal.

Officially Entries closed today but, the club has decided to accept late entries in an effort to make sure that teams can compete against a full grid.

"Teams need to log onto www.mgkc.org to get the supp regs (also available in the KartSportNews Event Calendar) and all the information and then get their entries in ASAP" said Edward Hodges from the MGKC Committee. "Come and try it - I'm sure drivers will be hooked."

The Mount Gambier Enduro festival will be held on the ANZAC weekend of the 26th and 27th April and will offer competitors of both races plenty of practice time, two qualifying sessions and then races of 100 laps for the Midget/Rookie event and 330 laps for the TaG class on the Sunday.

“There seems to be growing support for events such as these because it is a team event where strategy, preparation and stamina are just as important as a fast driver.  It was great to see how each team approached the race last year with variables such as tyre and driver changes, refuelling and the occasional stop/go penalty.  It was great fun and given the response from last year I would expect every team to return to have another crack at the title!” Edward said.

Rules have changed slightly for this years event with the competitive racing last year the TaG race seiing a change to MG Red tyres for all classes bringing the competition even closer.  There will be two weight  divisions of 160kg and 180kg with the Rotax and Leopard engines with Fireball and Biland engines aslo being added to the list.

The Midget/Rookie Enduro will be one division of 90kg with teams to run the Comer S80/SW80 engine.  Driver pairings for this class will be interesting with teams able to enter a combination of two Midget drivers or one Rookie/Midget driver.  There will also be a compulsory pitstop between laps 45 and 55.

Prizemoney of $2,400 will once again be up for offer which will be split between 1st, 2nd and 3rd and for race leaders on lap 125 and 250 in each class.  Teams will need to get their entry in early as their are limited available grid and pit spaces.

Join in the fun of Endurance Racing, with pit stops, driver changes, saftey karts and plenty of fun. For more details, supp regs entry forms log onto  www.mgkc.org, but time is running out.
