Hutton Takes Top Half Kart Series Lead

press release

Thirteen-year-old King’s College student Arie Hutton was in dominant form at Round 1 of the 2008 Top Half Series in Hamilton last weekend.

Driving his Super Freight kart in the Junior 100cc Yamaha class, Arie won four of the five heats and now has a seven point lead with three rounds to go.

Commenting on the event Arie said: "On Saturday morning we tested two chassis ending up with them being just 3/100ths apart in lap time. We then concentrated on our normal Yamaha chassis and improved to a 39.89 second lap which was about half a second quicker than we have ever been before at Hamilton. We went even quicker in the Tuning Run on race day so we knew we had a good set up, especially with the tyres which gave awesome grip. My SPARK engines were really humming up the long Hamilton straight. The first two heats went well with grids near the front. The next two were also fun especially heat four from grid 22 to fourth in eight laps. Hopefully we can carry this form forward for the rest of the Series. I would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge my personal trainer for the past four years, Aarron Cunningham. Aarron has now moved to Australia to live and I would like to wish him all the best for the future."
