Orrcon First AKA 'Platform' Sponsor

AKA press release

One of Australia’s largest steel tube manufacturers, Orrcon, is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Australian Karting Association.

The steel, tube and pipe manufacturer and distributor has a strong heritage in Australian motorsport through its involvement in the V8 Supercar Championship with Larkham Motor Sport, WPS Racing and currently Ford Performance Racing.

The agreement with the controlling body of the ‘grass roots’ form of Australian motorsport will ensure Orrcon is the preferred choice when it comes to steel products for the 6,500 members of the Association.

In the first partnership of its type for karting in Australia, all of the funds generated by platform sponsorships will flow back to the sport through AKA Officials clothing and marketing of karting to assist with the growth of the sport.

“I’m delighted to have Orrcon come on board as a platform sponsor of the Association which will assist us in further growing the sport across the country,” said AKA President Richard Erdmann.

“All of the funds generated by the involvement of platform sponsors will be put directly back into the marketing of the sport to assist with the growth of the sport.”

Coincidentally the driver of the Orrcon supported FPR Falcon in the V8 Supercar Championship is karting graduate Mark Winterbottom. During his time in the sport Winterbottom won ten national karting championships to springboard his way to the top of Australian motorsport and he is a terrific ambassador for the sport.

“At Orrcon we are always looking at ways to differentiate ourselves from the rest of the steel industry and becoming a platform sponsor of the AKA is a great opportunity for our business,” said Orrcon Sponsorship and Events Manager Stewart Smith.

“Orrcon’s involvement with Mark over the past five years has highlighted to us where the next stars of Australian motorsport will be coming from and we’re looking forward to being a part of the future in Australian motorsport.

“We have had a long association with BAM Media and have been impressed with what they have done since becoming involved with the AKA and we have to thank them for creating opportunities for us in the sport."

Several platform sponsors of the Association will be announced over the coming weeks. Each platform sponsor will have their logo featured on official’s uniforms across the country, on the official AKA website, included in every media release distributed by the Association and it also provides an opportunity for companies to be a part of the development of the future stars of Australian motorsport.
