Review <> Preview: GVKC Club Series and Cup Meet

press release

Last weekend’s second round of the GVKC Championship Series proved that this weekend’s GVKC CUP will be an open affair. The return of Ben Scott, 2007 clubman light champion and Mason Baldi 2007 clubman heavy champion immediately mixed up the results. Meanwhile, Isabella Thomas, returned to her home track to prove why she is carrying the pink number plate assigned to the All Ladies rookies title holder.

In his first competitive drive for 2008 Scott proved why he is 2007 GVKC Cup holder and was immediately on the pace, however he was headed home by Tim Keech (GVKC) second and Chris Dodman (Rochester) first. Baldi switched classes to run the high powered Leopard 125 heavy and secured third overall, surprised by Jason Sagaidak (GVKC) first and Anthony Douglas (GVKC) second.

A stellar performance by Tom Hughes (Rochester) had him not only lead home the Midget field in every race, but also take home the Mothers Day hamper, kindly donated by Therese Bentley.

With upwards of 70 entries anticipated for the GVKC Cup the grids will be boosted by a number of 2007 Club Champions as well as 2007 Cup defenders.  The feature junior classes will include: 2007 Club Champions Thomas Allen (GVKC) and Christian Harris (GVKC), while Bayden Spence (GVKC, pictured above) will be gridding up in Clubman Heavy to defend his 2007 Cup.

With good fields in all categories the racing promises to be intense. Practice and entry will be available Saturday, with a full days racing, combining 2 heats and a final for each class, scheduled for Sunday. Junior Trophies will be presented to fifth place. A $100 fuel card will be presented at the close of presentations with compliments from streetcommodore.com.

Numurkah Raceway is situated on Katamatite Road east of Numurkah Vic. Camping is available onsite. Spectator entry is free.
