AMSF Offer Another Driver Development Camp

press release

UNLOCK THE SECRETS TO MOTOR SPORT SUCCESS

Following the outstanding success of the inaugural development camp earlier this year, the Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) is again granting Australia’s young aspiring motor sport talent open access to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra on June 23-25.

Designed to help participants unlock the secrets to success in elite level motor sport, this second AMSF Driver Development camp is being made available to young drivers seeking to compete at the highest levels of motor sport both in Australia and internationally. The camp will be open to those participating in circuit, karting, rally and off road competition.

To be held at the AIS in Canberra from 23-25 June 2008, the camp will be based on the highly successful CAMS Rising Star Program, but with a number of new and exciting additions.

AMSF General Manager, Quentin Crombie believes this is a great opportunity for the Foundation to help support young motor sport competitors who are looking to improve their performance both on and off the track.

“We are pleased to be able to again offer this course to the broader motor sport community and it is thrilling to see that a number of those who attended in January have made genuine improvements on the track.”

“For those who attend the June camp, it will unlock many of the secrets required to be successful at the elite level and offer a range of practical tools that can be applied throughout their motor sport careers.”

The camp will focus on improving individual performance for motor sport competitors and will cover topics such as nutrition, cardiovascular activity, strength and conditioning, recovery, psychology, media, sponsorship, career planning and competing internationally.

Although the camp will include some theoretical components, it will be highly interactive with a comprehensive performance report and a number of tools being provided for application away from the AIS. It will also give participants an opportunity to benchmark their performance against previous elite attendees including recent CAMS Rising Stars and other Australian drivers competing internationally.

Crombie also believes that it will prove to be an excellent pre-cursor to other elite programs.

“For those who participate, the camp will give them a head-start over other competitors who wish to gain selection into the prestigious CAMS Rising Star, AMSF International Rising Star and other elite motor sport programs in 2009 and beyond.”

The cost of the camp is $2,990 (includes GST), which includes accommodation, apparel, learning materials and all meals expenses. Participants will stay on-site at the AIS and will be accompanied by an AMSF Camp Coordinator.

Spots are limited and restricted to those competitors who meet the pre-selection criteria. Applications open on Monday 5 May and close on Friday 30 May. For further details and to download a registration form, please visit www.amsf.org.au.

The AMSF will also be conducting a one-day follow-up camp at the AIS on 23 June for those who attended in January.
