'Kart to V8 Supercar' TV Campaign A Winner

The Albury Wodonga Kart Club is getting karting onto free-to-air TV.

The club has expanded its successful 'Kart to V8 Supercar' TV campaign with sponsorship of the Formula 1 telecasts in the lead up to the $5,000 Gold Rush City of Wodonga Titles on June 14-15.

The very slick TV Ad features V8 Supercar driver Brad Jones talking about the benefits of karting: "Would you like to race a V8 Supercar? Then start in a kart..." with footage of great kart racing and the call to action to visit the club's www.kartracing.com.au website and an invitation to the race meetings.

The ad ran during the Saturday and Sunday V8 races throughout 2007 with excellent results - spectator numbers were up, interest at a kart shop level was up and the proof that it all worked - club membership doubled!

The campaign has been expanded this year to tap into a another segment of the motorsport market with sponsorship of the local Channel 10 Formula 1 telecasts beginning with the Canadian Grand Prix. This will be a perfect date to start the campaign with the $5,000 Gold Rush City of Wodonga Titles the following weekend on the 14th and 15th of June.

A message from AWKC Patron, Brad Jones

As a V8 Supercar Driver and Team Owner, I recognise the importance of Karting in the overall development of a driver.

I have seen many drivers over the years who started in Karting and have reached the highest level of Motorsport, both here in Australia and overseas.

Karting helps build your core driving and racing skills. While Karts are vastly different to a V8 Supercar, things you learn at this entry level of Motorsport are the foundation of a solid racing career. From driving technique and chassis tuning, through to racing and decision-making skills, Karting is a fantastic proving ground.

As a V8 Supercar Team Owner, we are always on the look out for the next superstar. Having a proven record in Karting always attracts our eye.

Karting is also a great way to get the whole family involved in motorsport, with a great family atmosphere, mixed with the raw emotion of competition.

Brad Jones
