Geelong Lap Record Smashed

press release

What is unofficially believed to be the fastest lap time ever recorded by a non-gearbox kart at Geelong was recorded by new Super 1 Karting Race Team owner, driver and manager Daniel Richert last weekend.

Driving a Parilla powered Kosmic chassis, Richert recorded an astonishing 31.47 lap time according to the official AMB timing system on his way to victory at the Geelong Club May Club day in yet another strong field of 16 Formula 100 karts.

The win was timely for Richert who has not only returned from 5 seasons of race wins in national Commodore Cup competition but has also established ‘Super 1 Karting’, selling the Kosmic and Monaco range of karts as well as being an official dealer for the world class, Italian made Alpinestars products. Super 1 Karting also provides trackside assistance and driver tuition to their growing number of customers and team drivers and is overseen by Richert and fellow Commodore Cup racer Nathan Collins.

“Our combined experience of more than 20 years of karting – from when karts didn’t even have sidepods – along with racecar experience, puts Super 1 Karting in a position where we are able to give excellent, accurate service, advice and products to our team and new customers”, said Richert who also won the 1996 Victorian ICA Championship at the same circuit. “Obviously recording an ‘unofficial’ lap record on a clubday shows that our equipment is up to the task and we are hoping to get the same speed for our customers.”

The Super 1 Karting team will be racing at the Winter Cup at Geelong this weekend as well as the remaining rounds of the Victorian All Star Series as well as selected races both on the Victorian and interstate calendar.
