Harvey Heads To Mariembourg On A High

press release

Lincolnshire kart champion Jack Harvey heads out to the latest round of the WSK pan-European kart championship this weekend brimming with confidence after claiming the CIK FIA Asia Pacific KF2 title just over a week ago.

The factory Birel motorsport racer is hoping to continue his dominating form which helped him lift his fifth international championship crown at Suzuka in Japan at the end of May. However, he knows that the event at the Belgian venue will not be easy and that he will need to be driving at his best throughout the weekend.

"I'm going out to Mariembourg in the best possible frame of mind," said Jack. "Winning the event in Suzuka was what everyone in the team has been working so hard for. We all needed it and we will be going to Belgium with every intention of standing on the top step of the podium again.

"I know that it won't be an easy weekend. The WSK is the toughest series in Europe, possibly the world, and the racing in the first two events has been hard. But I'm still in contention for the title and with three events left I need to go out and bring home some big results every time I go out on the track," he added.

At the second round of the series, Jack suffered from mechanical problems, which put him out of contention for most of the weekend and left him with two non-scoring results. However, he still lies fifth in the points and is keen to maintain his race winning form to push him back towards the top of the leader board.

"The speed has been there to win in KF2 all season and everything just came together in Japan and I was able to show exactly what I can do at this level. It's going to be tough to win the championship from where I am at the moment, but hopefully I've had my bad luck now and I can go out and win again, for myself and the team, it's what I'm hungry to do," he added.

Jack will take to the track on Thursday for the free practice sessions, before qualifying and the all important finals take place on Saturday and Sunday.
