South Australian Toyota Leopard Series - Rnd 4

press release

The 4th round of the South Australian Toyota Leopard Series was run by the Go Kart Club of South Australia on Sunday, 15th June 2008.

Leopard Light
Heat one of the Leopard Lights saw Paul Pittam jump to an early lead and whilst he came under pressure during the last few laps he held onto take the heat win. Josh Tynan ended in second from Ben Edwards, Jedd Stojakovic and Brett Fortanier. The second heat saw Josh take the win from Jedd, Ben and Brett with Paul unable to make much headway finishing in fifth.

Jedd pulled out all stops and set a great pace in the second heat winning over Josh Tynan, Paul, Ben and Brett. P-plater Scott Renton finished in sixth from Adrian Allison. The final saw Josh and Jedd swap positions with Josh taking a great win from Jedd, Ben Paul and Brett.

Overall for the day it was Josh from Jedd who is showing great pace having matched Josh all day apart from the first heat. Third overall was Paul, from Ben, Brett, Scott and Adrian.

The series looks to be all wrapped up by Josh Tynan with one round remaining as he holds a comfortable points lead, having taken three round wins and a third. Second, Third and Fourth are very close with only four points between them so anything is possible.

Leopard Heavy
Matt Hall, Simon Layne and Rowan Booth have been setting the pace lately and it was to be no different for round four of the series. Simon got the day off to a great start winning the first heat quite comfortably. Back in the pack Matt showed great speed coming through and started to make some headway on Simon before the kart seemed to go off. Speaking to him afterwards he was not sure if the kart went off or he was still getting used to the fast sweeper at the end of the straight.

Matt won the second heat from Rowan, Blake Mooney, Craig Owen and Kristian Harris. Simon suffered a DNF in the second heat which would affect his overall result. Rowan won his first heat of the day taking out the third heat as Matt suffered a DNF. Simon ran second from Blake, Nathan Harris and Craig Owen.

Matt bounced to take a strong win in the final from Rowan, Simon, Craig and Kristian. Overall though Matt’s DNF did not help him as Rowan took the round win from Matt, Simon, Blake and Craig.

The series point score looks extremely interesting and will come down to Simon Layne, Matt Hall and Rowan Booth. The permutations are endless but if Matt wins and Rowan finishes 6th then Matt will win the series. If they tie on points then Rowan will win on a count back having had more round wins so it is all there for Rowan to win if he can keep it all together.
