Parrott Fourth In Europe

The second round of the European Kart Championship at Mariembourg in Belgium looked as though it could be difficult for Peterborough's Jason Parrott, who may easily have struggled after a technical upgrade used by much of the field was not quite advanced enough to use.

After qualifying 11th in a rain-hit timed practice, fourth and sixth places in the heats put Jason sixth overall on the grid for the first of the two main races

Starting from sixth, Jason's set up wasn't quite right and he dropped back, eventually finishing 11th after a battle with Jean-Philippe Guignet from France and fellow Brit Mark Litchfield.

The second race went much better – starting according to his previous result Jason went from 11th to take back places every couple of laps in one of the drives of the race. Five laps from the end he was running third, but was unable to hang on to it when the Italian Sauro Cesetti came up behind him.

"Cesetti had crashed in the first race and so had much newer tyres than every one else, and I thought I could either block him for the last few laps or pass him straight back again, but he overtook when I wasn't expecting it and got away," said Jason.

"All the same I'm happy with the result as I seem to be finishing here consistently now not occasionally like I maybe was a couple of years ago, and much of that is thanks to my team MGM Racing."

The next time Jason will be on the track will be the final two rounds of the European Championship at Braga in Portugal in August, but before that he has been spending time in Spain helping prepare some of the younger drivers prepare for their European Championship.
