Huge Field if Inters Lead Superkart Field

A field of 29 250 cc International Superkarts, from five states head the 45 kart field for the opening round of the Australian Superkart Championship. The largest field of 'Inters' seen in several seasons has gather at Sydney's Eastern Creek International Raceway.

A strong contingent from Victoria has arrived lead by the RMR Suprkarts team which includes 2007 Championship front runner Gary Pegoraro (Marron Excavations Anderson-FPE). Safe Evolutions Darren Hossack (Anderson-Safe), a winner here at Eastern Creek back in March and doing double duty this weekend racing the Audi A4 Sports Sedan, is also expected to be fast. Rod Prickett (Rockett Race Engines Anderson), Stephen Castles (NEC Automotive Stockman-Honda) and reigning 125 cc Champion Kristian Stebbing (Suburban Accounting Stockman-Honda) should also be close to the top ten pace.

South Australia too has arrived in numbers, the Zip BDH team running V8 Utes racer Luke May as well as brothers Yiani and Ilya Harpas (Internode Zip-BRC) and Western Australian racer Mark Hanson (Phoenix Dental Laboratory Zip-BRC). Danie Ramerman (KC Tools Anderson-Yamaha) is also likely to threaten fresh from hot form in the SA state series.

The largest Queensland group in several years features Carlo Chermaz (Buildersmile PVP) with Chryss Jamieson (Coach Design Anderson-Honda), Steve Murray (Gas Action Services PVP-Honda) and Brock Nicholas (One Zero Racing Anderson) also traveling south.

New Zealanders Anton Stevens (Electrosil PVP) and Karl Wilson (Anderson-FPE/RCS) also feature.

The New South Wales teams however are favourite at their home circuit, lead by the Stockman-Hondas of Warren McIlveen (Mac's Marine Stockman-Honda) and Sam Zavaglia (Stockman Superkarts Stockman-Honda). John Pellicano (Giova Design Avoig-Honda) and John Roberts (USA Positive Cashflow Properties Stockman-Honda) are also likely to be quick in the strongest field of 250 Internationals seen this year.
