Hossack Blitzes Race 2

press release

Darren Hossack has made two wins from two starts at the opening round of the Australian Superkart Championships. The Safe Evolutions Anderson made the most of a confused start to bolt clear of the field on the opening the build a lead he would never lose over the five lap journey.

The red lights flicked off, then back on again, by which time most of the field had jumped, but several backed off when the red lights re-appeared. Carlo Chermaz (Buildersmile PVP), who had made a fantastic start from the second row, paused when the reds reappeared and was quickly passed by Hossack. Chermaz was back into second smartly and spent the rest of the race fighting to keep Sam Zavaglia (Stockman Superkarts Stockman-Yamaha) behind. Zavaglia eventually succeeded in taking second at half distance.

Behind Chermaz, Anton Stevens climbed into fourth position in the Electrosil Art Motorsport PVP, continuing to recover ground after a poor start from Saturday's Race 1. Matthew Wall finished fifth in the leading RMR Superkarts Anderson after team leader Gary Pegoraro faded as the race went the kart seemingly losing power. Pegoraro finished tenth.

Stephen Castles (NEC Automotive Stockman-Honda) was sixth just ahead of Warren McIlveen (Mac's Marine Stockman-Honda), recoverring from 27th grid position after failing the finish race 1. McIlveen set the fastest lap of the race, sending an ominous chill to those on the front row.

Following in McIlveen's wake was the Internode Metaplanners Davtec Zip Eagle-BRC of Yiani Harpas then the similar Zip Eagle of Luke May.

Brad Stebbing (Suburban Accounting Stockman-Honda) won the 125 cc class ahead of Tony Lappas (IGA Supermarkets Romeo's Foodland Stockman-Honda) with Jarrod Lethborg (Trimfix Bakker-Honda) again finishing third.
