Harvey Targets Euro KF2 Championship

press release

Newly crowned Asia-Pacific karting champion Jack Harvey heads to the Braga circuit in Portugal next weekend for what will be his biggest and toughest event of the year, the KF2 European Championship.

The 15 year-old Alpinestars-backed racer won the KF3 (junior) title last season and goes into the event as one of the favourites for the European crown. However, the factory Birel Motorsport driver knows that the competition is going to be the fiercest he’s ever faced.

“It’s one of the events where points don’t mean prizes!” he said. “It is a one off event and the title is at the end of the weekend. Realistically, winning is the only aim for me, it would certainly be another great title to add to my CV,” he added.

At the recent qualification event at Sarno in Italy, Jack was on top form claiming victory in the opening final before being shunted out of contention at the start of the second. His lap-times and results have marked him out as one of the top racers in the KF2 senior category so far this year and a repeat of European Championship glory, after claiming the KF3 crown last season, would put him at the top of his game amongst his peers.

“It’s definitely the biggest event of the year for me so far. I’m fairly confident going into next week as we’ve been testing hard and it has gone really well. That normally means that we have a good race afterwards as everyone is at the top of their game,” he said.

“The whole team is behind me, Birel and Iame, everyone, has been working really hard and I want to be able to go out and win another big title for us all. I feel good and will definitely be trying my hardest every time I’m out on track,” he added.

Jack will take to the Portuguese circuit for the first time on Thursday for free-practice, before qualifying and the heats get underway on Saturday. The all-important finals will take place on Sunday afternoon. (August 3).
