Victorian Non-Gearbox Superkart Championship

The first Victorian state title in several years for non-gearbox superkarts was run at a wet and cold Sandown Park Raceway over the weekend.

Above: Everyone started on slicks as the track was declared dry for the 4th and final race - and for the most part, it was. But the turn 2-3 complex had rivers running across the surface which caught out several. Here, Shaun Trounson (89) cops it front, back and side.

Above: The man they call The Master, Gary 'Wizzer' Pegoraro, was a class act in Light, winning 3 of the 4 races, including one from rear of field, to take the Victorian Championship.

Above: Zach Jones piloted the second of the Howards Equipment Racing karts and was on target to win Juniors after 3 strong wins in the heats. Unfortunately, Jones got involved in the 4th Race carnage and DNFd with broken steering which dropped him to 2nd overall.

Above: What? A sparkle of sunshine?! Peter Strangis overcame a broken exhaust in the heats and was 3rd overall in Light. Reliability also affected Heavy speedster Colin McIntyre, a loose clutch in the final robbing him of a placing.
