A Productive Couple Of Weeks For BRM Team Drivers

press release

BRM Team News:

Aboard his BRM Racing chassis, Kristian Lindbom came out as a back-to-back winner in the last round of the NSW Leopard series at Port Macquarie on September 7.

Putting it on pole in Lights amongst a grid of full time kart racers (he now lives in Victoria so therefore does not have the resources to test in between races), Lindbom then won every heat, pre-final and the final with a gap almost the length of the straight at Port Macquarie.

Grant Dyga continued his success in the newly developed BRM SSP 28mm race chassis by winning the round of the NSW Yamaha series in Junior Clubman. This gives Dyga a clean sweep of events since jumping on board with Definitive Racing and the new SSP chassis.

Dominic Albanese is another driver tasting success with his ONE Racing Kart (made by BRM), placing in the Over 35s class at the recent Rotax Nationals. Albanese put a brand new Rotax engine straight out of the box onto the kart, then turned up to Todd Road on the Friday  afternoon just to do a few practice sessions and run the engine in. From a field of 29 more experienced Rotax drivers, Dom came out of the weekend second in the final. “If I had time to test and get this stock engine blue printed, I am sure that I would have gone better. The One Kart is such a pleasure to drive.”

Fresh from a long break in between race meets, Steve Pettaras took out Leopard Light and Clubman Over 40’s at the City Of Sydney Titles at Oran Park last weekend. Grant Dyga also won Junior Clubman. Both Pettaras and Dyga won by considerable margins in their respective finals and were unchallenged to the line.

The Clubman Over 40s class was combined with the Clubman Heavy class, but starting well behind the Heavy field. Starting from position 16 for the final (which was really 2nd for the Over 40s class), Pettaras overcame a technical problem to take the win. “From the start of the race my engine fouled so I fell back to nearly last” he explained. “By the time it got going the drivers were already going up Konica hill. But the kart was on rails. I was picking drivers off, most times two at a time. The SSP 28 was a dream to drive. It just got faster and faster.”

Scott Connole also tasted success at the Alan Cox Cup meeting at Tamworth a few weeks ago. Cannole on the Leopard Light class aboard his BRM.
