Part-Timers Win Wollongong 6-Hour Enduro

press release

Although they may not compete on a regular basis in the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship it didn’t stop the Troublemakers Racing team from taking victory in the ‘Wollongong 6 Hour’, the eighth round of the NSW Championship, last Saturday (September 20) at the Wollongong City Raceway circuit.

Completing a total of 667 laps around the 670 metre South Coast NSW circuit, the Troublemakers Racing team actually managed to stay out of trouble throughout the entire 6 Hour journey and came out on top at the fall of the chequered flag.

Home in second place in the ‘Wollongong 6 Hour’ behind the Troublemakers Racing team was Team Kaos, and they were unlucky to miss out on victory after getting tangled up with of all teams their team-mates during the middle stages of the race. Team Kaos finished on the same lap as the winners but some 20 seconds behind.

Team Kaos’ second place on the podium has now consolidated their lead in the NSW Championship point standings.

The Wild Hogs Racing team rounded out the podium finishers with third place, some three laps behind the other podium finishers.

Outside the podium finishers was P.A.W Racing team in fourth place. The P.A.W Racing team would have felt unlucky not to have finish on the podium after they had dropped a chain during the middle stages of the race which forced them to make an unscheduled pit stop while well placed in second at the time.

In fifth place at the finish was a good run by the Civic Racing Team # 1 followed by 888 Horsepower Racing, Damage Bros Racing, Civic Video Racing # 2, The Captains, and KBC Racing, who rounded out the Top 10 finishers.

One of the ‘Wollongong 6 Hour’ favourites in the Wollongong City Raceway Jets didn’t have the best of luck and finished down the order in 13th spot.

Another hard luck story was that of the Saturday Night All Stars team, which included ex Formula Ford driver Jason Varley. After qualifying on pole position for the ‘Wollongong 6 Hour’ and pacing the field early on, they were dogged by mechanical woes and finished near the back of the field. Despite their hardship, the Saturday Night All Stars team managed to record the fastest lap of the race with Varley behind the wheel late in the race.

All 20 teams that started the ‘Wollongong 6 Hour’ managed to reach the finish line.

The ninth round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship is to be held as part of the Gold Coast 12 Hour in Queensland on the weekend of October 18 – 19.
