Pserra Racing & Lorenzo Mandarino Score Victories

press release

Pserra Racing team driver Lorenzo Mandarino has been racking up the wins late in the season scoring victories at both the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship (BSRKC) and Ontario Regional Karting Championship (ORKC).  Looking to make a name for the Pserra Kart, Mandarino has helped develop and show the capabilities of the chassis as they look forward to finishing out the 2008 racing season and onwards into 2009.

The final round of the ORKC was held at the tight and twisty Innisfil Indy kart track near Barrie, Ontario, Canada. After claiming the pole position with a time of 43.975, Mandarino and his Pserra Kart was the only driver under the 44 second barrier. Starting on the inside row is a major advantage at the Innisfil Indy facility and Mandarino would take advantage of it for the rest of the day.

The talented Canadian pilot would walk away with the prefinal victory by 2.418 scoring the win and the pole position for the final. With rain intermittent throughout the day and the track looking as if it was drying, Mandarino and his crew gambled on the setup as they would look to make it a perfect day. At the drop of the green flag, the British Columbia native took the point and never relinquished it as he went on to score Pserra Racing’s first victory.

“It was definitely a tough race,” explained Mandarino after the event. “The track conditions were very difficult as in some corners it was almost dry while other portions of the track were wet. It took a great kart setup and lot of concentration to get through it all but we did and I am so happy for Peter Serravalle and Pserra Racing.”

The next weekend would provide more regional karting action as Mandarino would partake in the BSRKC event at Downsview Park. Saturday would provide Rotax Senior action where Mandarino qualified pole and won the prefinal by the entire length of the front straight. Failing to take a cool down lap, Mandarino was penalized one position and would be forced to start the final from the outside of the front row. At the drop of the green flag, Mandarino played it safe as he followed the leader around the opening circuit. Taking the lead on the second lap with a bold late braking maneuver, Mandarino drove fast and consistent race laps to drive to the checkers.

With the wet weather forecast for Sunday, Pserra Racing and Lorenzo Mandarino would decide to forgo Sunday’s competition. After sleeping in and arriving at the track at 9:00am, the sun began to shine as Mandarino decided he was going to race. With the late registration, the previous day’s Rotax Senior winner would be forced to miss qualifying and start shotgun on the TaG Senior field. After storming through the field to clam the second position in the prefinal, Mandarino would start from the outside front row for the second straight day. Looking for the same result as in the Rotax class, Mandarino took the lead on the opening lap and never looked back as he drove to his second victory of the weekend and third in the past two weeks.

“I would like to thank Peter for making this all possible,” explained Mandarino after his second victory of the weekend. “He really knows his stuff and without his chassis and engine tuning skills we could not have done what we did today and last week. He has quickly become one of the top tuners in Ontario karting and will fight for wins with whatever driver he is working for.”

Pserra Racing’s Junior Rotax competitor Vincent Rago continues to have that bad racing luck. After starting third for the final, Rago was off the track on the opening circuit. The talented junior driver advanced through the field running comparable times to the leader and eventually crossed the strip in third. Even though the podium position was a great result, Rago was disappointed as he knew he had a kart that would run at the front of the pack
