Horton Is Sold On Karts

AKA press release

As a Director of Raine and Horne Commercial in Port Macquarie Luke Horton is always working hard for his clients, but next weekend (October 3-5) the sales contracts will be left for his business partner to complete as Horton’s focus turns towards the kart track.

Next weekend the 30-year-old’s mind will be firmly fixed on going as fast as he can behind the wheel of his go-kart at the New South Wales Karting Championships sponsored by PDL Electrical Solutions.

Horton, who was a relative late starter in karting at the age of 26, will contest the highly competitive 125cc Rotax Light category aboard his European-made PCR chassis (above).

This weekend’s event will be Horton’s first tilt at a state championship and he will be aiming to gain valuable experience across the weekend as he races wheel to wheel with the 28 other competitors in his category.

“I’ve only been racing for about four years and this is my first state championships, so I’m under no illusions – it is going to be tough. My main aim for the weekend is to learn a lot and hopefully finish inside the top ten,” said Horton.

“Since I started racing karts I’ve met some great people. For me, the sport isn’t just about what happens on the track but the great camaraderie amongst the drivers and other people involved.”

With a total of 375 entries received across 13 categories for the event the action is guaranteed to be fast and furious around the Pacific Park Kart Racing Circuit.

This is the first time the Wauchope venue (just outside Port Macquarie) has hosted an event of this magnitude and it provides the opportunity for the local drivers such as Horton to test their skills against the best in the country.

Qualifying for the NSW State Championships will be held on Friday October 3. Heat races will be held on Saturday October 4 with the championship finals contested on Sunday October 5.

The Pacific Park Kart Racing Circuit is located at 199 Pacific Parkway, Cowarra Forest via Wauchope.
