Non-Approved "Safety" Devices Cannot Be Used

supplied by SuperkartsAustralia.org

CAMS has issued a statement regarding add-on helmet devices used in Superkarting. The message reads in part:

"It has come to our attention that there has been the use of an unapproved device attached to helmets during Superkart Races.

This device takes the form of a strap attached to the helmet at the front and secured to the waist or knees of the driver.

It is not an approved addition to any of the helmet standards and it is not permitted to fit such a device.

There is an obvious risk to the safety of the driver if they were to be thrown from the vehicle.

Scrutineers must ensure that safety equipment is not modified or used in any manner in which they are not approved."
