Caldon To Fly Local Flag At NSW Karting Titles

AKA press release

As the current Port Macquarie Kart Club Champion Brad Caldon is getting set to fly the local flag high in the New South Wales Karting Championships sponsored by PDL Electrical Solutions to be held at the Pacific Park Kart Circuit this weekend.

The Harrington resident, who turned 17 last Sunday, will this weekend take on some of the country’s top drivers in the elite Clubman Light category.

“It is going to be a tough weekend but I can’t wait to get out there on my home track and take on the best drivers from across the country,” said Caldon (above).

“In last year’s state championships, which was my first one, I was running fifth but I got knocked off in the pre-final which meant that I had to start from the back in the final. This year is going to be tough but if I can qualify well and finish somewhere inside the top ten.”

While his focus this weekend is on achieving his best result in a state championship, Caldon believes the sport is about more than just winning.

“Originally I wanted to start racing motocross but one my Dad’s good friends was involved in karting so I had a drive and was instantly hooked on the sport,” said Caldon.

“Karting is a real family sport, it’s more than just about racing and winning, almost every time I race Mum and Dad are on the sidelines watching and supporting me.

“I have met some great people and have learnt a lot about driving techniques and how to react in different situations which gave me more confidence when I went for my road licence recently.”

With a total of 375 entries have been received across 13 categories for the Championships Caldon will be joined on the kart track by a host of fellow local competitors at this weekend’s Event.

The Pacific Park Kart Racing Circuit is located at 199 Pacific Parkway, Cowarra Forest via Wauchope.
