Wollongong City Raceway Jets Primed for Gold Coast 12 Hour Success

press release

There is no two ways about the intentions of the Wollongong City Raceway Jets heading into the Gold Coast Endurance Kart 12 Hour that is to be fought out at Parklands, just North of the Gold Coast in Queensland, this weekend (October 18 and 19), and that is to taste victory.

Arguably one of the strongest and most consistent runners within the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Endurance Kart Championship, the Wollongong City Raceway Jets, based in New South Wales, have enjoyed a successful 2008 so far and would love to add another feather in their cap by taking out this weekend’s Gold Coast 12 Hour, which is regarded as the biggest event on the ProKart Australia calendar for the year.

Competing in the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia National, Queensland, and New South Wales Endurance Kart Championships, the Wollongong City Raceway Jets remain in contention for the Queensland Championship, while the team is ranked within the Top 5 of both the National and New South Wales Championship, so they have certainly had a great 2008.

Preparations for the Gold Coast 12 Hour have been very strong for the Wollongong City Raceway Jets, and one of the team drivers, Trent Warwick, is quietly confident that they have what it takes to take victory. Joining Warwick within the Wollongong City Raceway Jets team are Tim Gresham, and also Aaron and Marty Henderson to make up a four driver line-up.

“Everything looks to be in good shape heading into the Gold Coast 12 Hour, and hopefully we are able to be right up there contending for the winning honours,” stated Warwick.

“This is the best prepared we have been heading into the Gold Coast 12 Hour, as we have worked really hard with the Go Kart and I feel that we have a very good and consistent driver line-up that has what it takes to win.

“The format for this year’s Gold Coast 12 Hour is very different but also exciting, and I believe that despite a non-stop 12 Hour event like in past years, the quick teams will still be up there no doubt.”

Currently second in the Queensland Championship heading into the final round, the Wollongong City Raceway Jets are hoping to not only seal victory in the Gold Coast 12 Hour, but also take out the Queensland Championship honours in the process.

The Wollongong City Raceway Jets would like to say a big thanks to the team at Wollongong City Raceway for all their ongoing support, especially Tony and Amanda Pullen.

Aside from this weekend’s Gold Coast 12 Hour is the Sprint Go Karts, with classes consisting of Clubman, TAG, National Light, and Rotax. The race format is practice and qualifying sessions and the opening race on Saturday, and race two and three, pre final, and final on the Sunday at the completion of the Gold Coast 12 Hour event.

So there is certainly going to be Endurance Kart and Sprint Kart action galore on the streets of the Gold Coast this weekend.

The Parklands track is located on the corner of Smith Street and Parklands Drive in Parklands, just 8kms North of Gold Coast.
