Bridgestone Cup Beckons For Harvey

press release

Lincolnshire based kart champion Jack Harvey will head to the Italian circuit of South Garda this weekend for the 2008 Bridgestone Cup, a one-of event which should mark the end of his season in the KF2 class.

The event will see some of the top drivers from across the world take part. Even though it is not as high profile as some of the other races on the calendar, Newark Steel backed Harvey understands the importance of the meeting and is looking to round his KF2 season off in the best way possible.

“I’d like to end my season in KF2 with victory, definately,” he said. “It’s been a great first year for me in the senior class of kart racing and the Bridgestone Cup is still a big event. There will be a lot of the top drivers who I have raced against this year there and it will be the last chance I will have in this category to go out and beat them,” he added.

The meeting is being held at Garda, a track that Jack knows very well. However, despite his local knowledge, he knows that it will not be an easy weekend and he is prepared for the tough few days.

“At every event where the best racers are entered it is hard work, there are always a handful of drivers in each heat or final who are in with a chance of victory. But I like tough competition and the move into KF2 has taught me a lot and I can’t wait to get out on track again.

“I know that the whole team will be working hard and that I have every chance to pick up another title this weekend, but I’m not under any illusion that it will be easy. At this level you always have to drive at one hundred percent as everyone out there wants to achieve the same thing,” he said.

“I’m going to go out and try as hard as I can to put myself in a position to climb onto the top step of the podium by the end of the weekend though,” he added.

Jack will take to the track for the first time on Friday morning for free practice with the heats taking place on Saturday. The two final will be run on Sunday.
