Saturday Night Series Concludes At Wollongong

press release

The ninth and final round of the 2008 Saturday Night Go Kart Series was staged last Saturday night (October 25) down at Wollongong City Raceway (Kembla Grange, South Coast of NSW) and it saw action aplenty across the Junior and Senior classes.

In total there were seven classes that were on show during the final round of the Saturday Night Series that included Midgets / Rookies, Juniors, Senior J, Clubman, TAG Restricted, TAG, and Shifter.

The final round of the Saturday Night Series saw a number a number of drivers walk away from the round with a clean sweep in their respective classes, which resulted in them topping the time sheets in qualifying, winning all three of their heat races, and then going on to take out the final, and those drivers were Bryce Davidson (Juniors), Alex Henry (Senior J), Chad Horsley (TAG Restricted), and Joe Chetcuti (Shifter).

Just missing out on a clean sweep of his class was Drew Friend in the Midget / Rookies as he had won all three of his heat races and then the final, but a second place behind Kieran Fairlie in qualifying denied him of a perfect scorecard. In the Midget / Rookies final Friend comfortably defeated Kieran Fairlie and his younger brother, Coren Friend, in second and third place respectively at the fall of the chequered flag.

Despite not dominating the entire round of the Saturday Night Series, drivers such as Darren Solomon and Grant Gaffa, landed in victory when it mattered most, the final in their respective Clubman and TAG classes.

All the drivers that compete in the Saturday Night Series throughout this year are now looking forward to running in their final event of the year by contesting the annual Twilight Nationals that is to be held at Wollongong City Raceway on Saturday, November 29.
