A Walk In The Park for Walkos Racing: Oran Park 7 Hour

press release

They came, they saw, and they conquered, that pretty much sums up the performance of the Walkos Racing team during their domination of last Sunday’s (November 2) ‘Oran Park 7 Hour’ at Oran Park Raceway (Narellan, NSW) for the ninth and penultimate round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia New South Wales (NSW) Endurance Kart Championship.

From the outset, the Walkos Racing team, in what was their first appearance of the year, were on the pace after they topped the time sheets in qualifying, and then they managed to carry that form right through the ‘Oran Park 7 Hour’ and ended up winning by a complete lap (404 completed laps) over Team Kaos (403) and Lexx Gammie Racing (402) teams in second and third place respectively on the podium.

The Walkos Racing team have signalled their intentions to contest ProKart Australia events on a regular basis next year, and they have rich history within ProKart Australia competition over recent past years.

At the ‘Oran Park 7 Hour’ the Walkos Racing team proved that they were simply in a league of their own throughout the entire event, by not only winning the race and qualifying on pole position but also recorded the fastest lap of the race too, and it has certainly given rivals teams a wakeup call, as they have once again risen the bar in terms of the competition level.

Finishing in second place on the podium for the ‘Oran Park 7 Hour’ were Team Kaos and this result has seen them wrap up the ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship for the year with one round remaining.

After qualifying in a low 19th place in the 29 team field, the Lexx Gammie Racing team work their way up to finish in third place in what was a strong recovery to a slow start to the event and they also recorded the second fastest lap of the race.

Outside the podium finishers were Two Dogs Racing in fourth, followed by Horsepower Racing, Wollongong City Raceway Jets, Civic Video Racing, Bell Pipes Racing, All Birt Racing, and in 10th was Kart Blanche. The Horsepower Racing team had a few dramas during the race, one which included hurried repairs to the chassis, and consequently ended up finishing fifth after they had qualified in third place.

Hard luck was endured by the King of Parts team who had qualified strongly in second place, but a spate of mechanical issues resulted in them finishing well down the order in 16th place.

The best performing of the hire kart teams was More Go Racing in 18th place and in total there were eight hire kart teams that competed in the ‘Oran Park 7 Hour’.

Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway on the weekend of November 22 and 23 is where the annual Eastern Creek 12 Hour is to be run in what will be the 10th and final round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship and the final ProKart Australia event of the year.
