Wollongong Races Moved To Oran Park

The final round of the Wollongong Kart Club's 2008 series will be run at ORAN PARK and not Wollongong, on November 16. This is due to the club being advised they can no longer use the Wollongong City Raceway.

The club accepted the invitation of the Sydney Kart Racing Club and while the club understands there are both positives and negatives in this decision, it allows the club to complete the 2008 championship. Wollongong Kart Club members will accrue points for the day as per the club's championship rules and it will count towards the WKRC championship.

The WKRC was informed last month that it could no longer hire the Wollongong City Raceway to conduct its race meetings, effective immediately. "The committee is both bewildered and frustrated by this decision and has been informed by Wollongong City Raceway management that no correspondence will be entered into regarding this matter" the club posted on it's website. "The club would like to stress that this is a decision that has been made by the senior management of the track. The club would like its members to refrain from taking out their frustration or discussing this issue with the employees of Wollongong City Raceway."

The club presentation evening will go ahead as planned on 28 November at Kembla Grange Golf Club Function Room.

The club would also like to stress that this is NOT the end of the Wollongong Kart Racing Club as they endeavour to continue to offer members professionally run race meeting in a friendly and safe environment.
