Kuhlmann Dominates Rain Affected ProKart SS4s Round

press release

A late change of venue and wet weather conditions wasn’t enough to stop Nathan Kuhlmann from dominating the ninth and penultimate round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Series last Saturday (November 1) down at Wollongong City Raceway, near Kembla Grange on the South Coast of NSW.

Originally scheduled to be held at Oran Park Raceway as the support act to the ‘Oran Park 7 Hour’ Endurance Kart event, the ninth round of the Super Sprint 4’s Series was moved down to the Wollongong City Raceway circuit, and to make things even more interesting the entire round was held under wet weather conditions, but unfortunately both the pre final and final was cancelled due to heavier wet weather later in the afternoon that made track conditions too dangerous for racing.

In the Senior class action the wet weather conditions played into the hands of Sportsman competitor Nathan Kuhlmann and he managed to take out all three heat races outright and consequently took out the rounds honours ahead of Senior Light class runner Brendan Long and Senior Sportsman racer Nicole Ziedan in second and third place respectively on the podium.

After dominating the majority of the year Long was simply out driven by Kuhlmann throughout all three races, and it was the latter driver proved that he certainly had the upper-hand over Long throughout the round.

Class wins for the Seniors saw Long outpace Matthew Ramsay for the winning honours in Senior Light, the dominance of Rick Ward continued in the Senior Heavy where he downed an impressive and best ever round result from Matthew Wagner in second and third place was filled by Jay Cutting, and in the Senior Sportsman it was Kuhlmann that was too strong for his class rivals, along with the entire field, when he finished ahead of Ziedan and Dylan Tennyson.

The battle in the Juniors was fast and furious throughout all the three races, but in the end it was Kaylah Tennyson that came out on top in the Junior Sportsman class ahead of Jessica Hodgskin and Kyle Paterson. In fact, all three races saw wins shared between Tennyson, Hodgskin and Patterson, but it was Tennyson that came out on top due to her being more consistent than her rivals. Tennyson, who is the defending Super Sprint 4’s Junior Champion, was thrilled with her result and was quick to thank her family and engine builder ‘Macca’ when she accepted her winner’s trophy at the presentation.

James Reddon took out the winning honours in the Junior Sealed class.

With only one round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Series remaining, the battles for the series honours are well and truly still up for grabs in both the Senior and Junior classes.

The 10th and final round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Series is to be held on Saturday, November 29 at Wollongong City Raceway in conjunction with the Twilight Nationals event.
