The Maranello UK team is showing promising signs after a successful first round of the Winter Series at PFi last Sunday (2 November).

Team Manager Elliott Green is pleased with his drivers’ performances, and believes that they are building a firm platform for success in 2009.

He said, “All the signs were very encouraging. In KF3, Josephine Ferrada Van Braeckel had one of her best meetings of the year. The conditions were very difficult and I’m pleased with the way she dealt with them, the change of chassis, different tyres, and of course working with a new team - she did a great job”

Also in KF3, Roy Johnson has signed for the team. “Roy was hugely successful in Cadets and obviously has star quality and I think he may surprise a few people next year”

Former Mini Max star Andy King has moved into the Junior Max category - and also impressed, with a strong performance in the final, finishing 4th overall.

“As ever, the Junior Rotax class is very competitive – especially at PFi – and Andy did well to come through the traffic. I think he’s got the potential to do very well next season and beyond.”

In KF1, new signing Jamie Croxford (pictured) also gave hope for the future with a typical display of grit and determination, but was hampered by poor tyres.

“Jamie took a 4th and 5th in the heats and had a brilliant first three laps in the final - but then the performance of the tyres just dropped off and that was it. Still, we could see that there’s more to come from the chassis and engine package and I think he’ll be bang on the pace in no time at all.”

A major talking point at the Lincolnshire circuit was former champion Bobby Game’s return to top-flight racing and he’d chosen to do it on a Maranello.

“Bobby tested another chassis and one of ours and preferred the Maranello. He did well too and I must also congratulate Russell Danzey for his fine 3rd place in the KF3 final.”

He added, “And what can I say about Mark Litchfield’s performance? He was quite superb throughout the weekend and totally dominant with his Maranello.”

The Maranello UK factory team also has drives available in Rotax Max and KF classes and Elliott adds, “We have several drivers committed for next year but would welcome approaches from people who are considering running with one of Britain’s leading teams.”
