Kovacic has already started his preparation for his racing plans next year by testing both his Clubman Light equipment and brand new Kosmic Leopard package at his home track of Newcastle last weekend.

After having fantastic success since he started karting, collecting a total of 15 State titles, numerous state title podiums and a National Title, James feels the time is right for the move.

"I’m really looking forward to racing in the seniors" he stated. "It will be a new challenge and I feel as though I don’t need to prove myself any longer in the Juniors. The decision was pretty easy and my father was fully supporting my decision. I am going to race as many classes in the seniors that I can. That will still include the Yamaha J, Clubman 100s (Clubman Light), Leopard Light and Formula 100.”

James is also travelling to the USA to test in Formula BMW at Bakersfield Raceway, close to Los Angeles in the next few weeks after his school exams. He will be testing with his new teammate Alex Ellis from Ontario Canada. Alex is the current recipient of the Formula BMW USA scholarship and has decided to race with James in the OS Race Team for the 2009 season. Both James and Alex became good friends while attending the BMW licensing Course at Valencia in early September.

In the meantime, James is testing in earnest for his new challenge in the senior ranks of karting with a full schedule of tests arranged during the school holidays, which shall also include some FBMW testing here in Australia.
