Wet and Wild Super Sprint 4’s Go Kart Nationals

press release

Despite the wet weather the 2008 Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Go Kart Nationals last Saturday night (November 29) at Wollongong City Raceway (Kembla Grange on the South Coast of NSW) was judged a success.

Due to the wet weather only qualifying, two heat races and the final were run across both Junior and Senior classes. Both qualifying and the opening heat races were held under dry conditions and the second and final heat race and final was held in very wet conditions. The third and final heat race and the pre final were cancelled.

Although it was held mixed weather conditions at the completion of the Super Sprint 4’s Nationals wins in the final were shared between Kyle Paterson (Junior Sealed), James Reddon (Junior), Brendan Long (Senior Light), Rick Ward (Senior Heavy) and Nathan Kuhlmann (Senior Sportsman).

In the Junior sealed class action it was Paterson that demolished his rivals in the final defeating Jessica and Cameron Hodgskin in second and third respectively. Defending champion Kaylah Tennyson struggled in the wet conditions and the best she could manage was fourth place. James Reddon kept out of trouble to record a pleasing victory in the Junior class.

The Seniors saw Long once again prove too strong and take out the Senior Light class and his closest rival in the class, Tyler Hunt, who ended up finishing in second place. The dominance of Rick Ward continued in Senior Heavy class and he managed to outpace Glenn Manning and Jay Cutting in the final. Nathan Kuhlmann continued his good form to take out the final in Senior Sportsman class by defeating Dylan Tennyson and Diane Meads.

With the Super Sprint 4’s Series wrapped up last month, the winner’s of their respective classes will be announced and awarded at the annual ProKart Australia Presentation Night that is to be held this Saturday (December 6) at Panorama House, along the Princes Highway at Bulli Tops near Bulli on the South Coast of NSW.
