International Go-Kart Challenge

The 2008 International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs was held at Florianapolis in Brazil a week ago. The annual event is organised by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. Rubens Barrichello took the win after coming first in race one (beating Lucas di Grassi) and finishing fifth in race two.  Michael Schumacher finished fourth in the first race but retired from the second race which was won by Massa.

Photo galleries from the pre-race activities, plus races 1 and 2, are on motorsport.com HERE.

While the flimsy bodies might make them look like 1970s sports cars, these are proper high-performance KF competition karts underneath. Have a look at some of the YouTube clips from last year's event HERE and HERE - massive crowds and Brazilian enthusiasm!.
