Drivers in both Light and Heavy divisions did battle over 9 rounds and 32 heats of racing, in 3 states, in what has been arguably the most prestigious Superkart championship in memory. In the Light division, Crooke was dominant, winning 8 of the 9 rounds and taking 3 lap records at Sandown, Wakefield Park and Oran Park, along the way.

In the Heavy division Chris Jewell and Patrick Atherton had a season long battle, with Jewell finally taking the honours with 5 round wins.

In the final count of the combined Light and Heavy division points, it was Crooke from Jewell and Atherton. Crooke's name is the first to go on the perpetual Hyper Racer Golden Orb Trophy.
