Super Series - The Start of Something Big?

Homebush Karts' Vic Roy has been involved in the establishment, in conjunction with Prokart, of a new 'Super Series'. Administrators of the new series are aiming to provide more track time for less money than what karters are getting with other organising bodies. "It's to address the changing needs of karters and has gained a groundswell of supporterss" Roy informed KartSportNews.

The series' website lists a number of interesting ideas to save costs for the karter, such as clutches being optional, and any tyre can be used (providing it is harder than the class tyre, so karters can use long-life tyres if they wish). They also aim to have membership and race fees subsidised by sponsors and offer a time-handicapping system for overweight drivers.

press release

The start of a new exciting series for kart enthusiasts, of all levels and experience - the Super Series - is the biggest thing to happen to Australian karting in years.  Members of this new series will be able to race or practise at some of the best tracks in Australia for less money, enjoying more track time and in a much more relaxed, welcoming and enjoyable environment.

Karters of all grades will find the cost of Super Series registration very appealing. At a mere $85, enrolment will give karters access to over sixty events. This registration fee for the first Super Series will be a major cost-saver for all drivers, and events open to those registered will include races at such tracks as Oran Park, Eastern Creek, Wollongong and Canberra.

With credit to Super Series' sponsors, all drivers will race for trophies, and thousands of dollars of electrical equipment such as televisions and cameras. Other awards, characteristic of the friendly atmosphere encouraged by the Super Series administration, include prizes for the most improved driver, and the best presented kart.

Other fun competitions will include such activities tyre-changing races, bringing variety (and cash prizes) on race days.

Also provided by the Super Series are professional flag and race marshals at each event, grid girls, and access to sophisticated timing equipment, weigh scales and an approachable and responsive administration.

The Super Series web site is growing and changing daily, but already has a web forum to allow interested and like-minded people to share their ideas and to help give shape and direction for this new Super Series.

Registration is now open to all karters, and is simply accessible, through the online membership and event management system. Super Series members can book and pay for practise and race days online, using the personalised system, which manages classes, remembers member's race numbers, and will even send race reminders via email before race days.
