British A1GP Driver In Kart At Eastern Creek

press release

James Winslow Team GBR driver in the A1 GP put in a full day of testing at Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway.

Due to race at the next round of the A1 GP in New Zealand James approached North Shore Kart Club president Peter Galvin to see if he could get some valuable track time ahead of his drive for Team GBR in New Zealand.

After a few phone calls Ian Mallinson from Ian's Maintenance & Renovations agreed to let James take his prized possession out for a spin.

James is the current cams Gold Star winner in Formula 3000 and his first words after alighting from the kart for the first time where. "That's the fastest kart I have ever driven". He then likened it to his test in an Indycar such is the raw power and speed of the Leopard powered kart.

It didn't take long before James got to within .5 of the lap times of seasoned drivers in the Leopard class. He then had a drive in a "J" and found that kart to be a lot less taxing on the body!

James said. " I really can't thank NSKC and Peter Galvin enough. Before today I really didn't understand what it takes to drive one of these thing fast and how good it was of Ian Mallinson to let me take his kart for the day a big thanks to him".

Peter Galvin and Iain Thornton of NSKC spent the day out at the track with James and had this to say. "James is definitely one of the good guys in motor sport and after watching him turn a few laps you can tell he can drive".
