Amazing Assortment of Prizes For 2009 Leopard Challenge

The 2009 Leopard Challenge sees a huge and exclusive list of prizes up for grabs.

press release

1… Our Aim

Our aim is to make it easier for Leopard competitors to qualify for the Leopard Final Shootout by introducing a National Leopard Challenge.  Remo Racing continues to support karting by offering prizes such as a brand new car, trips overseas, Formula Ford Test Drives, Formula BMW drive in USA and engines, spares etc;

In the Remo Racing National Leopard Challenge, drivers are NOT restricted to racing in their own State or even a Leopard Series to qualify for the Leopard Final or National Leopard Challenge Points.

This approach will reward those who not only run the bigger meetings but also give competitors who run smaller meetings the opportunity to be included in one of Australia’s most prestigious events, The Leopard Final Shootout!

Drivers accumulate points from sanctioned events around the country which will go towards the National Leopard Challenge POINTS TALLY which ends 30th November to have a chance to win great prizes at the end.

Drivers will only need to race in 3 Leopard sanctioned events of their choice anywhere in Australia to be eligible to enter one of Australia’s most prestigious events, the “Leopard Final Shootout” and go into a DRAW to win a BRAND NEW CAR, it’s that easy.

2… Sanctioned Events

      Please see the list of Leopard Sanctioned Events which are eligible towards the National Leopard Challenge. This may be amended at anytime to add more sanctioned events.

This list of events are available online at www.leopardengine.com or by contacting the Leopard Challenge Promoter below.

Each driver accumulates a total amount of points, scored from a maximum of 8 race meetings. For example, each state may have twenty ‘sanctioned’ Leopard challenge events and competitors can choose the events in any State that suit them, while still generating points. This way, competitors aren’t obliged to run certain events.

Instead the competitor can choose to race as many or as little as they want. If less than or equal to 8 meetings are run then competitors accumulate points from all meetings. If they race more then 8, the best 8 results count for their total tally at the end of November.

If your Club would like to be included in the 2009 National Leopard Sanctioned events please feel free to contact us.

3… Points

The points system is designed so as to help all Leopard racers become involved in the Challenge and feel benefits whether they are running major or minor opens. The points are calculated from the finishing order at a given meeting “final only” counts for all Leopard Sanctioned Events. The winner at the meeting gets the most points – simple.

Points are weighted for different race meetings. Level ‘1’ meetings are worth the most points and 2,3,4,5 are worth proportionally less.

Level 1 = National Leopard Final shootout

Level 2 = AKA Nationals

Level 3 = AKA Open State Titles

Level 4 = AKA Closed State Titles and Major opens (example: VIC All Star Series, City of Melbourne Titles, Val Findlay Memorial, NSW Premier State Cup, QLD Supercheap Series or SA Festival State Cup etc ;)

Level 5 = Smaller open meetings (VIC Country Series, NSW Southern Zone, Australasian Kart Titles, etc)

4… Eligibility

In your eight (8) meetings you can count for example;

1 x LEVEL ONE event - The Leopard Final event is the most significant event on the calendar for Leopard drivers, this is worth the most points and will go towards the National Leopard Challenge Ranking.

1 x LEVEL TWO event - There is only one National Title, and it is worth a lot of points, but less than the Leopard Final.

2 x LEVEL THREE events (State Title Events)

6 x LEVEL FOUR events.

Unlimited x LEVEL FIVE events.

This approach will reward those who run bigger meetings while also giving competitors who run smaller meetings the opportunity to be included (when it comes to ranking and prizes).

Level 1 = 2005 minus 10%
1st = 2005, 2nd = 1805, 3rd = 1624, 4th = 1462, 5th = 1315, 6th = 1184, 7th = 1066, 8th = 959, 9th = 863, 10th = 777, 11th = 699, 12th = 629 etc;

Level 2 = 1604 minus 10%
1st = 1604, 2nd = 1444, 3rd = 1299, 4th = 1169, 5th = 1052, 6th = 947, 7th = 852, 8th = 767, 9th = 690, 10th = 621, 11th = 559, 12th = 503 etc;

Level 3 = 1203 minus 10%

Level 5 = 401 minus 10%
1st = 401, 2nd = 361, 3rd = 325, 4th = 292, 5th = 263, 6th = 213, 7th = 192, 8th = 173, 9th = 155, 10th = 140, 11th = 126, 12th = 113 etc;

10... Benefits

One huge positive for this system is that an average driver can race more experienced steerer’s like QLD’s John Grother, WA’s Kandola’s and VIC’s Sera’s without leaving his/her home track. This brings the local level racers that usually can’t travel into contention on a National level.

Drivers are not restricted in running in their own State so the National Leopard Challenge allows competitors to choose when and where they want to race. Also, as each State will have a large total number of sanctioned events, this system will allow drivers to avoid tracks they don’t like, or return to tracks they feel they do well at.

This system will make the final more accessible to average karter’s because there will be no “top 10” state series qualification to worry about. For example once a competitor has raced three (3) sanctioned events, they are eligible to compete at the Leopard Final Shootout regardless of how many points they have accumulated.

The list of all sanctioned events with their levels is attached allowing competitors to plan ahead which eight, or more, race meetings they wish to attend.

All sanctioned events will be completed and tallied after the 30th November.  The Leopard Final Shootout has the most points making it a worth-while event before the closing date.

If you have a bad race meeting, or have a mechanical issue and miss some races, you can make up for it in another race meeting and it won’t have ruined your entire year.

In the current series format, a competitor that has something planned that clashes with a race meeting has their season ruined points-wise. With the new National Leopard Challenge approach they simply select another race meeting to fill the gap and there is no problem.

The points weighting system will encourage competitors to race many different meetings (including State titles, Nationals and Leopard Final Shootout) to maximize their points.

This system is much easier for clubs to include in their race program. We don’t need to organize specific ‘Leopard Series only’ meetings, as all meeting count and it is just a matter of sending us the “final heat finishing order”. All the clubs have to do is offer Leopard on the supp-reg’s and we will label it an official ‘sanctioned’ event (also see terms and conditions). It doesn’t matter what format the Club decides to run or if the Club has qualifying or not, because the only thing we need for the challenge points, is the final heat finishing order in other words ‘final only counts’ towards the National Leopard Challenge Points Tally (regardless where you finish on the day).

11... terms and conditions (version 0:1)

  1. All prizes are non transferable or redeemable for cash or equivalent. If the winner of the prize refuses the prize it is then forfeited.
