Italy, Poland and Holland: that's the three flags that are waving at the driver and eurocup rankings in the wsk international series after the first 2009 round in muro leccese.

The chase for the top is taking shape in the WSK rankings. After the first round in Muro Leccese that was run last week WSK rankings delineate the starting scale of values for drivers and teams. The three classes Super KF, KF2 and KF3, being the first to run at the championship opening round, have already got their leaders in Driver and EuroCup ranking. The score is awarded according to the results in Pre-final and Final except Super KF: in the top class the results achieved in the single Final must only be added to the score of the SuperPole taking place on Saturday.

Birel Motorsport and Sauro Cesetti lead in Super KF. The convincing win achieved last Sunday in La Conca shoots to the top of the Super KF ranking Sauro Cesetti (Birel-Parilla-Bridgestone), the outgoing champion from Servigliano (AP-Italy) who leads at 45 points over the French driver from Bordeaux Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG-Maxter-Bridgastone). The latter, already winner in the SuperPole has added to his score a second place achieved in the Final behind Cesetti. At the third place in the ranking as well as in the race there is the driver from Saint-Etienne (F) Armand Convers who was impressive driving a Kosmic-Vortex-Bridgestone. At this early stage EuroCup ranking for teams reflects the same order as driver ranking: Birel Motorsport, CRG Spa and Kosmic Racing Department respective get the three top places.

Robert Kubica and Karol Basz go back to Poland with the KF2 leadership. The KF2 leadership is based in Cracow (PL): both Karol Basz (RK-Parilla-Bridgestone) a seventeen driver who won the race in Muro Leccese and now is leader of the WSK ranking and the more famous Robert Kubica that along with the team RK Kart Team by Savani Competition is at the top of EuroCup ranking, they come from the same town. During the breaks from his involvement in Formula 1 with the team BMW-Sauber, Kubica will personally follow his newborn karting team that already achieved such double important success at his first official start. At the second place two other protagonists in the weekend in Muro Leccese are closely confronting each other: they are the English guy from Gravesend Ben Cooper (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) and the seventeen driver from Paladina (BG) Matteò Viganò (Birel-Parilla-Bridgestone). Both are separated by few points and follow Basz at 9 lengths. In the EuroCup the relative teams rank in the same order: below the team RK there are both Tony Kart Junior racing Team by Paul Spencer and MGM Racing, a team managed by the talent scout Mauro Pozzi.

With Chiesa Corse and Nick De Vries, Italy and Holland lead the KF3. Dino Chiesa intends to hang on to the very young Dutch champion Nick De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla-Dunlop) seeing that he was able to upset every expectation that tipped Russian Danil Kvyat (tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) to win at la Conca. The latter achieved a second place behind De Vries both in race and in driver ranking, while British Alexandre Albon (Tony Kart-TM-Dunlop) scoring well both in Pre-Final and Final in Muro Leccese, follows at the third place. Consequently in the EuroCup Chiesa Corse leads over Morsicani Racing. Both with a consistent lead are above Mick Barret Racing that follows third. Everything will be again at stake in less than one month. At the second WSK round, scheduled at the Internazionale Circuito Napoli in Sarno (SA) from March 5th to 8th, KF2 and KF3 will be back to compete. Super KF will respect his turn of rest giving space to KZ2 that will make his season's debut. Awaiting the next round the comprehensive rankings in the three classes are available on the website www.wsk.it.
