Oran Park put on a great days racing for all classes, with The Over 40 ‘J’s class having the biggest field on the day with 22 entries.

The Over 40 ‘J’s were up first to clean the track for all the other competitors. There was dust everywhere because of the earth works going on. They had a great day of racing with 2 heats , prefinal and final which produced plenty of action and 4 different winners throughout the day.

Heat 1 : Noel Judd come out of retirement , from his vintage karts,  to show us all the way round the                    
              horse shoe track. Pontello 2nd and Roberts 3rd

Heat 2: Alan Holmes, he grew up on up on this track , took control and nobody could catch him.
             Borg 2nd and Pettaras 3rd.

Prefinal: Bernie Learson looked unstoppable until the last lap were he slowed up allowing Thornton to                
               catch. Learson held on with Thornton on his tail. Learson 1st , Thornton 2nd , Borg 3rd.

Final : Learson & Thornton looked good until mid race when Glenn Roberts, yes the Rotax driver from
           Lithgow , stormed thru to take the lead. Paul Rietdyk then made his move passing both Thornton
           & Learson with 2 laps to go. Roberts took the win , Rietdyk 2nd, Learson 3rd, Thornton 4th ,    
           Pettaras 5th.

SKRC spokesperson said “We are very pleased with the King of Sydney series and the drivers it has attracted. The drivers all behaved themselves and they had lots fun both on and off the track. It was great to see.”

All the drivers had a great day and are looking forward to the next round at Eastern Creek on 18th April 2009.
