Central Coast Speedway, Round 2

press release

Hosted by Central Coast Speedway Kart Club on Sun 22 August 2009, Gosford Kart Speedway, Gosford Showground.

A larger number of drivers than expected turned out for Round 2, and with a beautiful sunny day, the track in great shape, and loads of new drivers, a great race day awaited everyone !

It didn't take long for the action to heat up in quite a few of the classes with excellent driving skills on display, along with 2 and 3 wide passing through the corners.

In the Midget class, Kyle Angel won the day again with maximum points, followed by Luke Sayre and James Peters, in all races. It was great to see 3 new drivers in the class too. We hope to see them on the podium some day soon.

The Rookies also had increased numbers with Corey Foyle winning the day, followed by Daniel Sayre and Kristopher Johnson. Jackson McNamara wasn't too far behind with some consistent finishes.

In the Juniors, Kyle Pollock took out the days honours, followed closely by Nikki Briton who managed to just beat her sister Ashleigh, rounding out some great finishes by the girls! Reagan Angel just missed out on a trophy finishing 4th.

The Clubman Light class also had many new drivers. Nathan Bailey still managed to win, but not without some unexpected competition. Matt & Simone Smidt both kept Nathan from a clean sweep, along with Jade Pollock who won the Feature race.

Clubman Heavies were the largest class of the day, with quite a few new drivers participating. Matt Bond, Marty Watson, Alana Hammond and Grant Lahiff each had a race win, but the day was affected by many DNF's and was finally won by Grant Lahiff, followed by Ross Turnbull and Alana Hammond. This was Alana's first trophy and first race win! Congratulations!

In the Clubman Over 40 class, Matt Bond took the days honours, followed closely by Gary Slarke and Stuart Bond. Congratulations to Mick Rumble who held on to win the Feature race.

Our KT modified class was a new mix of drivers, with 6 regulars, and 6 new P drivers, and most were very competitive ! Les Green won the day, followed by Luke Storey and Rod Sievwright. Rod Burns wasn't too far behind in 4th place.
