Carless On Podium At Power Series Opener

press release

Ten Karts, seven drivers - all members of the Oakleigh Go Kart Club - headed off last Friday for the 1st round of the Golden Power Series at Morwell. The 'Carless Karting' team, as it's known for the moment, was made of 1 Rookie, 2 Junior National Heavy, 2 Junior Clubman, 2 Leopard Light, 1 Clubman Light and 2 Tag 125 drivers.

It was a very hot weekend, with plenty of ups and downs. Our Junior Clubman drivers drove well  in the heats with Micheal Carless managing to take out 2nd in an interesting final, full of action. Bradley Carless, in only his 2nd time out in Junior Clubman, drove well all weekend, but unfortunately ended up backwards in the tyre wall on the 1st lap of the final.

In Junior National Heavy there were some great battles going on with the top 6 drivers with plenty of passing which made for some interesting racing.  Michael and Bradley Carless had some great racing along with Will Donaldson, but unfortunately did not manage to finish in the top 3.

Our Rookie driver, Justin Carless, drove consistently in the heats, but  had a big crash in the finals, spinning backwards and landing on top of the tyre wall and did a great job balancing his kart (thanks to the official that managed who lift him and his kart off the tyre wall!).

Josh King, our Clubman Light driver, drove hard all weekend, but out did us all with a roll over in the final race off the start line.

Steve Jabke drove well all weekend in Restricted 125, managing to pass a few Karts on the track over the weekend and finished 5th in the final. Grant Archer also race Restricted 125, but not having raced much last year, struggled with his kart, but managed to complete the weekend with some interesting racing.

Shane Alabaster and Josh King raced in the Leopard Pro. Both driver drove hard all weekend but did not have the speed to see them finish in the top 3.

Thanks to everyone that helped out on the weekend and look forward to some great racing this Saturday 29th March at Oakleigh Club Day.
