Speedway Karts Promoted At Truck Show

Rain and threatening skies were a no show on what could only be described as an awesome day for the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club.

The club executive decided that the Working Truck Show held at the Museum of Fire in Penrith was a perfect opportunity to raise community awareness of the club operating in their district at Nepean Motorsport Complex.

The display had a number of karts on show and all day children were sitting in them and having photos taken with most wanting a photo in the #1 Club Champion’s kart.

The club also handed out balloons, stickers and brouchers which were all gone by days end. The DVD that was running all day gave people a great insight into just how good speedway kart racing can be and constantly had a good crowd watching. The display was very well received by young and old and all people involved worked tirelessly to inform the general public of our fantastic sport.

Great interest in our sport was shown by all who visited the display and the club has at least 3 new members all signing up at the show and will be conducting their licence testing in the coming weeks and we would like to welcome them into our club.

However, the highlight and biggest crowd at the display of the day was when country singer and golden guitar winner Beccy Cole and her son visited the display and spent time getting photos in the karts and with our junior competitors who were present at the time.

After completing her set on stage Beccy was kind enough to come over and whilst at the stand a large crowd gathered and again we had a lot of interest.

On behalf of the club we would like to extend a big thank you to Beccy for giving us some of her time. Whilst at the display Beccy showed a genuine interest in the sport, an even hinted at her son maybe having a go and they are welcome anytime at our club.

The reason for the club being at the show was due to a number of people helping us to get involved and the club executive would like to offer our gratitude and thanks to Mr Mark White the CEO of the Museum of Fire and Organiser of the Show and also Rob and Adrian Wearn owners of Mulgoa Quarries for the generous opportunity to showcase our club and speedway karting as a whole.

Supporting the club as always also with a display of speedway karts was the Coghlan Racing Team and they deserve a big thank you as well for their continued support of not only their team but the club and a sport as a whole.
In closing Club President, Wayne Baines, would like to thank all the committee members who were present and sharing the work load and to all the club members who came out and supported their club and helped spread the word, our special thank you for giving up your Sunday to be part of this great event.

The atmosphere of the day was one of happiness and fun and will definitely follow us to our Celebration Day on the 19 April where we will see the efforts of the day’s event and hard work come to fruition.
