Johnson Signs With DR Kart UK

press release

The most successful Cadet racer Britain has ever produced will lead team’s KF3 attack

By the end of last year, Roy Johnson had secured his name in the record books as the most successful driver in Cadet karting history – winning the British MSA, Super 1, Open and Kart Masters titles all in one season.

The 13 year-old from Pelsall, South Staffordshire will now graduate to the KF3 class with Steve Green’s DR Racing Kart UK outfit.

“I’m hoping that with the help of Steve and his team, I’ll move up the grid very quickly. He’s one of the top men in karting and hopefully we will soon be challenging for victories,” Roy said.

He added, “We’d previously toyed with other makes of chassis, but the DR was very good straight away. It’s nicely made and I’m very pleased to be given the opportunity to race it in the UK.”

Steve Green says, “It goes without saying that we’re delighted to have a driver of Roy’s calibre working with us. His results from last year speak volumes about his ability and we’re all very excited about the season ahead. Roy will compete in the Formula Kart Stars and Super 1 series - and I have to say, I can’t wait for our first race together.”

Roy’s debut with the team will be at the second round of the British Super 1 Championship at Shenington in Oxfordshire this coming weekend (9/10 May)
