Throughout the ‘5 Hour’ race it was a battle between pole sitter # 30 Team XLR8 and # 77 Road Runner Racing teams and those two finished 1 – 2 at the fall of the chequered flag it was Road Runner Racing that came out on top, winning by two laps.

Team XLR8 finished in a gallant second (461 laps); however their winning chances were hindered by the amount pit stops they had to make due to needing to re-fuel but there was no questioning their overall speed.

Current TEKA Champions in the B-Grade class and current A-Grade points leaders # 35 W.A.R Racing finished third outright (453 laps) in what was a trouble free run and this results sees them continue their successful start to the year that has them winning all three rounds in the A-Grade class. W.A.R Racing, which consists of the father and son team of Peter and Troy Worsley and Adam Keramea, started the race from grid position five after they ended qualifying in fifth place.

Finishing just outside the podium finishes was great drives by # 91 Ghetto Racing and # 41 GTS Racing in fourth and fifth place both finishing on 446 laps. Ghetto Racing put in their best drive of the year and finished second in the A-Grade class, while GTS Racing came out on top in the B-Grade class with a very impressive fifth place finish outright.

Rounding out the top 10 finishes were # 7 Sky Racing (444 laps), # 76 Grumpy Mongrel (442 laps), # 49 Mariners Racing (441 laps), # 4 Grey Ghost Racing (440 laps) and # 59 DMP Racing (436 laps).

The locally based, # 88 Team Canberra, didn’t have the best of preparations heading into the round, due to having to source a new engine in the week leading up to the round. The team felt confident of a strong showing due to their home track knowledge, however things didn’t go completely to plan and they finished outside their desired top 10 ambitions back in 13th place.

After qualifying third outright; the # 9 Buildline Racing suffered a spate of mechanical issues and finished well down the order in the ‘5 hour’ race in a frustrating 19th place. What made their round even more frustrating was the fact that they recorded the fastest lap of the race itself around the 750 metre track.

Class wins were shared between: Road Runner Racing ahead of Team XLR8 and Buildline Racing (Briggs & Stratton), W.A.R Racing ahead of Ghetto Racing and Mariners Racing (A-Grade) and GTS Racing ahead of Sky Racing and Grumpy Mongrel Racing (B-Grade). GTS Racing’s maiden round win of the year has moved them into the B-Grade point standings lead overall after leaders heading into the round, # 26 Dodgy Boys Racing had a round that they would like to forget.

In terms of the point standings overall, after three completed rounds, sees Team XLR8 (Briggs & Stratton), W.A.R Racing (A-Grade) and GTS Racing (B-Grade) head their respective class point standings.
