Monaghan's Double At NKA Super Go Kart Series

press release

Ryan Monaghan walked away from last Sunday’s (May 17) fourth round of the National Karting Association (NKA) Super Go Kart Series down at Wollongong City Raceway, near Kembla Grange on the South Coast of NSW, the most successful driver after dominating proceedings in both the Clubman Light and TAG Yellow classes.

In what was his first appearance in the NKA Super Series; Monaghan took out all three heat races and the finals wins in the Clubman Light and TAG Yellow classes. Mongahan’s victory in the Clubman Light final resulted in him defeating Davashen Padayachee and Rod Henry-Smith, while in the TAG Yellow final he managed to outpace Matt Ferraro and Glenn Wilford.

Similar success to Monaghan; Leigh Wright was simply too strong for his rivals in the Clubman Heavy class as he topped the time sheets in qualifying and then went onto to take out all three heat races and then in the final he won comfortably ahead of Justin Wills and a hard charging Adam Casuccio in second and third place respectively.

Despite not carrying the best of form throughout his heat races; Brad Coe won when it mattered most in the TAG Red Light class by winning the final. Finishing second in the final behind winner Coe was highest point scorer from the heat races and pole sitter for the final Andrew Warner, while third place on the podium in the final was filled by Enzo Mendicino.

In the TAG Red Heavy final the winning spoils were taken out by Joe Mauriello who finished ahead of Adam Nassif and Graham Walldod.

The TAG Super Heavy / TAG Over 40’s combined resulted in Vic Roy taking out a clean sweep and he won the final by downing Vince Ferraro and Shane Tate. Earlier in the round Roy won all three heat races and came out on top in qualifying too.

Joe Chetcuti was a cut above the rest in the Open Performance class and he proved that by winning all three heat races and then taking out a comfortable victory in the final where he finished ahead of Daniel Orsini and Sam Costa.

The fourth round of the NKA Super Series was without a doubt the biggest turn out of the year so far and that is certainly a positive sign for the future.

Round five of the NKA Super Series is to be held at Eastern Creek International Kart Raceway (Blacktown, NSW) on Sunday, June 14.
