Ward Comes Out on Top @ Indy 800 Kart Track

press release

Last Saturday (May 16) at the Indy 800 Kart Track, near Windsor in the Hawkesbury region, the fourth round of the ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Series resulted in the outright victory honours going to Rick Ward in what was his return to victory lane.

Ward, who competes in the Senior Heavy class, came out on top in qualifying outright and won both heat one and three and finished second outright in heat two and he then won the final in impressive fashion. At the last round Ward was outgunned by Glen Manning who went on to take out the round win and this time Ward was out to make amends and he certainly did that. Winning the Super Sprint 4’s round outright also rewarded Ward with the top honours in the Senior Heavy class and he finished in front of Dylan Tennyson and last round winner Glen Manning in second and third place respectively on the podium in the final.

In the Senior Light class the winging honours was taken out by Jeff Cripps ahead of another member of the Cripps family in Ray and breaking the Cripps family dominated podium was Bretton Coghlan in third place at the completion of the final. Earlier in the round the form driver in the Senior Light class was Laurence Cripps and he was unlucky in the final and failed to finish. Amongst the Senior Light runners Laurence Cripps was one of the favourites and was right up there in outright contention too as he demonstrated by taking out victory outright during the second heat race.

The Senior Sportsman class was won by current Super Sprint 4’s champion Brendan Long and defeated David Sultana and Justin Wills at the fall of the chequered flag in the final. Long won all three heat races for the Senior Sportsman class and in qualifying it was David Sultana that topped the time sheets ahead of Long.

Eastern Creek International Kart Raceway (Blacktown, NSW) on Sunday, July 5 is where and when the fifth round of the ProKart Australia Super Sprint 4’s Series is to be fought out.
